Daisy Serebrin Proposal: Mixed Techniques

Proposal Statement

I plan to make the UP house. It's my favorite Pixar house and after using the 3D machine, I knew that my balloons could be made with it.

Advise

I discussed my final project with Jessica and we talked about the structure of the house. With the walls being thin with using the laser cutter, she recommended having a box or something to support the house so that it doesn't fall. Another thing we talked about using a tube and sting to make the string effect when attaching the balloons and house together. One other thing we discussed was in terms of laser cutting there are are pros and cons to each wood thickness. If its to thin then some designs might get cut out instead of edged out and if to thick some pieces might not cut all the way.

Rough game plan

So for now my plan is to take it in steps with deadlines. I want to first sketch out which will be done when this blog is due. Then take two weeks to use fusion to make my house and balloons. Once that is done, take the rest of the time to put it together and make smaller details and paint.

Needs

For this project I need Popsicle sticks for details. Acrylic sheets for the box to keep the house sturdy. Maybe resin for the windows. Wood for the laser cutter. 3D materials. Paint for the exterior, white string for the balloon string, a tube of sorts for the string to glue to and the balloons to stand on. And lastly glue.

Comments

  1. Review of Daisy Serebrin Proposal: Mixed Techniques
    1. Great idea!!! Love the Pixar house concept!!!

    2. Very ambitious project

    3. Acrylic -> use for windows instead of resin; allows for engraving a design, box - use MDF (wood)

    4. Game plan -> Ryan “a little sparse”; need to think a little more on what needs to be done within the given time frame, and also have a Plan B, and Plan C.

    5. Fusion 360: think about the time it will take to design something of this detail…
