Introducing Lisa Castro Endresen

Image
Hi, my name is Lisa Castro Endresen. I work at Trinity in the Department of Art and Art History. I'm the Manager of the Neidorff Gallery and Director of the University Collection. I look forward to learning how to use available tools in the MakerSpace. I hope to create objects to highlight exhibitions in the Neidorff Art Gallery, and design and build labels for campus artwork. I have only personally created one object in the MakerSpace: a box for my father's Trinity beanie. It was a wonderful experience, and made me want to create more in the MakerSpace. Outside of work-related objects, I would like to learn how to create miscellaneous objects like the black screen below for my granddaughter's dollhouse. My granddaughter can be seen below, attempting to convince me the dog wants to be on the sofa.

Introducing Rob Patrick

Image
My name is Rob Patrick.  I work in the Facilities department as a construction project manager and have been at Trinity for six years. Interests are too many to list, but the short list includes: overlanding by dual sport motorcycle, family activities, fly fishing, photography, travel and exploration, generally anything outdoors.  My professional passions are structural engineering and construction.  I have a BS degree in Animal Science and a BS in Civil Engineering...originally wanted to pursue large animal veterinary practice, but then reality set in and I got a job with a general contractor, eventually returning to academia for the engineering. I enjoy learning new skills and working with my hands, and this class provides both.  The CAD design is an added bonus.  Plus, I might be able to make more accessories for the bikes! Introducing Angela Miranda-Clark

Image
Hi, my name is Angela Miranda-Clark and I am Trinity's Compliance Officer and Title IX Coordinator. Basically that means I respond to allegations of sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and harassment and discrimination based on protected status. I also receive bias reports and forward those to the person or department responsible for addressing them. Here's the photo Strategic Marketing took just after I started my job here: I graduated from Trinity with a BA in Philosophy and minors in Spanish and History. I was one class and lab away from a Biology minor and I'm still kicking myself for not doing that. However it would have meant a 12 hour day my final semester, so the decision also made sense. As evidence that I went here, this is me and a friend studying for Spanish in my room in Miller my first year (can't find the one of me and my suitemate in front of the building sign at the moment): I love all sorts of creative things, I even worked as a baker in a restaura...

Introducing Alicia Brechin

Image
Hello, my name is Alicia Brechin and I am a sophomore Religion major and Art minor at Trinity University. I enjoy creating objects using technology and traditional methods, specifically 3D Printing, Digital Art, and Graphic Design. I lean more toward STEAM in school systems, focusing specifically on the Arts and Technology and how they can work together to help others understand and communicate across language barriers. I am in Mu Sigma Psy, a co-ed Music Service Fraternity on campus, and am currently helping to design a shield for them.                                                        Mu Sigma Psy Prototype Sheild, By Alicia Brechin After graduation, I hope to become a freelance graphic designer and digital artist. In my free time, I enjoy using the technological tools around me to create and design personal pro...

Introducing Phoebe Murphy

Image
Hi, I’m Phoebe Murphy, a senior communication major and creative writing minor. I came to Trinity pre-med before I realized that creating is what I do best. Most of my "making" comes in the form of my creative interests, which include digital and traditional illustration, photography, creative writing, and all manner of handmade crafts. I have also recently taken an interest in filmmaking and am considering a career in film. When I'm not creating, I like reading, watching YouTube, and playing video games, especially Smash Bros.  I've always wanted to take advantage of the Makerspace and figured this class was the perfect opportunity to do so. My primary goal this semester is to learn how to use the equipment and make some cool stuff I'm proud of. My oil painting titled Infinitesimal , inspired by artistic depictions of black holes.   My embroidered depiction of the pulsar map on the Voyager golden record.  My digital illustration of the goddess Psyche, in celebrat...

Introducing Jessica Lloyd

Image
Hi! My name is Jessica Lloyd and this is my second year at Trinity University! I am an Engineering Science major from southern California with my focus in electromechanical engineering. Within the engineering department, this is the second class I have been a teacher's assistant for, where my first was the Design I course. I also participate in Dr. Treadway's research, where I am on her social dance project.  Outside of my major, I am a part of Trinity's softball team and ultimate frisbee team. I also enjoy creating things in the Makerspace in my spare time. Right now, I am focusing on laser cutting charms for some bracelets I made and making a rug! Outside of creating things in the Makerspace, I love all things outdoors. I enjoy surfing, hiking, wakeboarding, dirt bike riding, and skiing.  From this course, I hope to continue to build on my knowledge of the machinery in the Makerspace. I want to use the metal CNC router, specifically. I am so excited to meet everyone and f...

Introducing Austin Parcell

Image
Hello, my name is Austin Parcell and I am one of the two TAs for this semester. I am majoring in Engineering Science, with a focus in Mechanical Engineering. This is my second semester working in the makerspace, but I've been using the space for my entire time here. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas but decided on Trinity University because of  its small size and engineering department. I've been the TA for Engineering Design I, a course very similar to this last semester, and am very exited to being able to help you all find a love for the space. I have a particular interest in things rocketry related, and am the president of the rocketry club here on campus. The club has finished a number of parts, including the entire motor. We used multiple metalworking tools to make these. Some pictures of the parts are shown below.  The makerspace has also been useful in creating gifts for family. I used the laser cutter and CNC for these, along with the Stratasys.
